Windows 7: BSOD A clock interrupt was not received on the secondary processor

Windows 10

No need to wait it out, if you're overclocked still you are very likely to bugcheck again.
Please go into the BIOS and confirm that the Ratio values are set the the default of 38.

Here is thought for a possible cause of "a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor" BSODs. I kept getting the same BSOD for months. According to NirSoft BlueScreenView the culprit was one of a number of drivers causing problems in ntoskrnl.exe. Most of the drivers, but not all, were associated with Apple and iTunes. At first I thought iTunes was the cause because the BSODs started right after I got an iPhone and installed iTunes. I spent a lot of time and effort using RevoUninstaller Pro, CCleaner, and "Everything" riding my system of Apple's crap. The BSODs stopped for a while but still came back, although not as frequently. iTunes was part of the problem but not the cause. It turns out I had an over hearting problem which was not discovered until I started working through the hardware stress test suggestions I found on this forum. iTunes was basically the straw breaking the camel's back in that all of the Apple crap loaded in the background was pushing my laptop to it's thermal limit. It was only after I started running Prime95 while monitoring temps with RealTemp that I discovered an over heating problem that was confirmed when my laptop suddenly shut down while streaming a football game, and it smelled hot. When I opened up the laptop and removed the fan and heat sink assembly I discovered that the thermal grease had completely dried out and simply fell away. This is a 3.8 year old Lenovo W700 with a NIVIDA discreet GPU that runs 24-7 on AC almost every day of the year. After cleaning both the CPU and GPU heat sink assemblies and reinstalling them with Artic Silver my temps are back in line with new normal specs and I have not had a BSOD in 6 days, even when running Prime95 and VMware Player at the same time. Also 100% load temps are staying under 70C. I hope this info helps someone.
