I understand your having problems configuring the drivers, but please check for any potential updates from here - ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)

Do you know the model number? It may be listed in Device Manager.

    Remove:

    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\AVG
AVG is known to cause BSODs with Windows 7, please remove the program completely with the AVG Removal Tool, and then install and run full scans with these free and proven alternatives which work best with the operating system, due to their compatibility and lightweight nature on system resources.

Install and perform full scans with:

       Information
Remember to install the free version of Malwarebytes not the free trail; untick the free trial box during installation. MSE is the most lightweight and compatible with the Windows 7 operating system

You can also view this thread for a complete free and lightweight security protection combination:

    Remove:

    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\McAfee Security Scan Plus
McAfee is another well known BSOD cause, and a very ineffective on demand AV scanner, please remove the program completely with the McAfee Removal Tool.

    Remove (suggested):

    Code:
    c:\program files (x86)\pando networks\media booster\pmb.exe

I can't find seem to find your drivers anywhere on Qualcomm Atheros :: Technology and the Atheros website.

Please go to Device Manager, and then post a screenshot like the example below:
