Bsod and windows will not boot

    Hey guys,

My computer was working absolutely fine yesterday. I turned it on today and get the Bsod and windows will not boot normally or in safe mode. It did boot once but everything was really slow and it wouldn't work. My data is backed up so I tried to restore it to the factory partition (as I have done once before with no issues). The process finished and I clicked restart at the end of the process and have reverted straight back to my original problem. Please help

Hello mo2256. Can you remember the stop code of the BSOD?

Boot to System Recovery Options . Try Safe Mode with Command Prompt. In the command prompt .... enter the command ....

    start msconfig

It will open the system configuration window, with the "general" tab selected.

    • Click the "startup" tab. Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK.
    • Click on "services" tab. Check the "Hide all Microsoft Services"; Click "Disable all" > Apply > OK

Then try to boot again normally. Is it failing still?

If so, boot to System Recovery Options once again. Try Enable Boot Logging. It will create a file named ntbtlog.txt. Collect it and upload it. If you cannot do it within windows, Boot with a live Linux disc and collect it in a USB stick, use the usb stick in another computer and upload it. It is necessary.

    Also, follow it:

Hi, all it will do is go to the screen that says starting windows and then the screen goes black. My cursor is present and I am able to move it but that is it. It will not open in safe mode either.

Have you tried to boot into System Recovery Options ?
Have you tried Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start ? The first few steps dont need to boot into windows at all. What are the results of those steps?
