Go for a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 , as a last resort. It it does not help, too, replace the SSD.

Almost. Either the Storage device itself, or something that has a meaningful bearing on th storage devices.

I haven't even been able to install the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool, it just get stuck when it tries to install.

Look at disk management. If you partitioned it, you may have some extra space on the end. But, a 128GB SSD will never give you 128GB, usually around 119 or so. They have to keep reserve nand cells to replace those that wear out and spread the data out for wear leveling.

The USB 2.0 should be natural to your motherboard and should work any time. USB 3.0 is different though.

Right click computer, select manage, in the left column select disk management. Look in the bottom portion of the screen and you should see your SSD and see if there is 'unallocated' space to the right of it, or any other partitions on it.
