    BSOD shortly after startup - 0x0000007e


    This error is occuring on an Inspiron HP mini laptop. The problem only happens when doing a normal windows boot, it does not occur when in Safe Mode. Windows will start up, and after a short period (usually 1-5 minutes) I will get the BSOD error. I've attempted uninstalling updates that had recently been applied to no avail. I imagine that there is a driver error occurring but I am not quite sure and have difficulty "reading" minidumps. I was unable to run the SF_Diagnostic tool during a regular boot but tried running most of the commands in Safe Mode.

    Unfortunately, restore points were never set up on this machine either. Any guidance into what the minidumps might be suggesting would be greatly appreciated.

    Remove Norton and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials & the Free version of Malwarebytes, update and make full scans separately:
    • Do not start the trial version of MalwareBytes

    You may also take a look at:

    Reduce items at start up:
    Your Antivirus software is basically whats just needed there.

    Make scans with -

    Use the System File Checker tool and Run Disk Check:

    Monitor hardware temperature with system monitoring software like Speccy or HWMonitor:
