    BSOD, Caused by ntoskrnl.exe

    Hello all,

I have been recently getting the BSOD while trying to repair my wireless connection. My wireless card keeps going in and out and when I try to use the Windows 7 repair it crashes. I have the 300MBPS Wireless 802.11n PCI Adapter manufactured by Edimax Tech. It is currently disconnected because it was giving me trouble. My RAM and HD are perfectly fine after testing it. I have the SF file and it will be attached. Thank you for your assistance in advance. If there is any more information that I can provide please let me know. Thank you!

    -Alan

Hello darkelite. SPTD is present there in your system and causing some issues.
    Code:
    fffff800`00b9cbd0 fffff880`010d9cc0Unable to load image sptd.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for sptd.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for sptd.sys
     sptd+0x78cc0
Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Alcohol 120% at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

    • Double click to open it.
    • Click this button only:
    • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

Uninstall AVG. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Some other very important things are not properly loaded, but those may be caused by eithor or both of the aforesaid things. In the presence of those two, all the mishaps may happen. So let us know the situation after omitting those as suggested. Will decide our further steps depending on the further situation.

    Hello Arc,

First off I want to thank you for the reply. I did as you told me and uninstalled Alcohol 120% and after the uninstalling process it blue screened once again. This might be because it asked me if I wanted it to remove files from the registry and I said "Yes". I believe it was able to uninstall 100%.

I also downloaded the SPTD standalone installer and ran the program. I was unable to select uninstall since it was already grayed out.

I uninstalled AVG 2013 and already have MSE running.

I have attached the new dump in hopes there might be another clue.

Well, the latest BSOD you have supplied was caused by SPTD as earlier.
    Code:
    fffff800`04a47bd0 fffff880`010d4cc0Unable to load image sptd.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for sptd.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for sptd.sys
     sptd+0x78cc0
As you have unnstalled Alcohol and SPTD already, now give it a time and observe the situation if the BSODs are back or not.

I tested it out for about 2 days and it is coming back again..... I keep getting this BSOD while trying to repair my wireless internet card after about 1 hour. I would have internet on my PC for a while then all of a sudden my wireless card wouldn't pick anything up from any connections. I then proceeded with the Windows diagnose and repair and then BSOD occurs after it tries to resolve the problem. I will upload the latest minidump. Also maybe this little information might help assist you. This BSOD error started to occur after I hibernated my PC. Thanks.

    Disable USB Selective Suspend.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

Also have a look at USB Driver - General Fix for Problems.

Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

    • Download and execute Driverview
    • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
    • Edit > Select all
    • File > Save Selected Items
    • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
    • Zip the .txt file and upload it.

    And upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

    1. Click on the start button
    2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
    3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
    4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
    5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

    Code:

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

    1. Click on the Start button
    2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
    3. Select the “Startup” tab.
    4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
    5. Apply > OK
    6. Accept then restart.

    Let us know the results.
