Is still is lighting memok at random times requiring restart to start system and for some reason on the most recent restart, it did not find any bootable device, even though nothing has changed. The cpu is now also showing NEW CPU installed after each restart. I am going to perform a CHKDSK and a MEMTEST again while I am at work. Could the new cpu message come from the CMOS battery being dead?

Yes it could mean that the CMOS battery is empty and the BIOS
reverts back to defaults each time, but that only happens (with a dead battery) when the PSU is no longer connected to the wall socket. What is the make and model of your PSU and how old is it? |

Windows has finished checking your disk. Please wait while your computer restarts. MY PSU is coolermaster PS-600-PCAR-E3 and I got it new when I got the computer. When my computer hard freezes I have had to reset using the hard power switch. because no other power buttons have worked that could be the reason my CPU resets. I am going to run a memtest while I am at work. and will post results |

If the battery is dead and you cut power to the motherboard
by means of disconnecting the PSU from the wall outlet, or in your case using the switch on the back of it, then yes that is why your CMOS is being cleared back to the defaults every time. |

it said it went through 100 passes but that seams like way to many for 5 hours. - oh shit I was looking at the wrong area for passes. I will rerun memtest over night to recheck for errors
