    Random BSOD 0x0000007a

Hey guys, I've been having some random blue screens, 3 in the past 5 days, and I'd really like some help since I don't know what to do anymore.

This all started in the 19th when I decided to download and install some updates from Windows Update before going to sleep and got a BSOD while installing them, at the time I didn't pay much attention and let it slide. The next day the computer had no problems so I didn't bother checking anything, then on the 21th I got another BSOD. This time the computer was completely idle, no programs or browser running, I was watching TV at the time. I downloaded Bluescreen Viewer and noticed it pointed to ataport.sys as the culprit for both instances. I did some research and found some "fixes" which I tried:

sfc/ scannow - came out clean
    chkdsk - showed some errors
    chkdsk /f /r
chkdsk - apparently some errors still remained
    cleaned the windows paging file

The computer was "ok" for a few days, until today. Again the computer wasn't doing anything when it happened, it only had the browser open, as I wasn't on the computer at the time.

I've tried some more stuff before posting this thread, but since I can't be sure if the problem is solved or not I decided to come here and ask for your help. This is what I tried today:

memory check, using windows memory check - I wasn't looking at the monitor when it finished the test and it rebooted afterwards, so not entirely sure of the result, although it didn't come up with any errors while testing the first ram.
F8, booted with the repair mode and used the following commands:

    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot

I've been playing and using this computer daily since the first BSOD and so far had no problem when playing.

I'm not sure if there's anything else I can say to help you guys.

Take a look at the link below

    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

If you get any Errors . Stop the Test and test each RAM on every slot one at a time.

If you have a dual channel memory and one RAM is bad replace both sticks

Run some hard-drive diagnostics and follow these steps:

Find your hard-drive manufacturer and run their tests.

    Additional Tests:

Post a screenshot of Crystal Disk Info summary:

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
    • SSD firmware
    • BIOS Version
    • Chipset Drivers
    • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
    • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.
Check for any file system errors and bad sectors using Option #2 of:

Use this command with Disk Check:

    Code:
    chkdsk C: /f /r

    Here's the printscreen of CrystalDisk.

About the hard drive test, I've completed a quick test using the test tools provided in the WD site and it came out clean, I'll try to run a more intensive test tomorrow after I've backed up some stuff.

As I said in my first post, I've already run a disk check.

I've run memtest, left it overnight, and it came out clean.
Next step will be the intensive disk test but I still need to back up some of my stuff.

I still believe it has something to do with some kind of corrupted file, as this all started when I was doing updates.

Click on the Caution (Alerta), and then move all the sliders to the left, and click Apply. Post another screenshot.

It seems to be a bad hard-drive, which is the most common cause for the bugcheck you are experiencing at the moment.

For some reason when I opened CrystaDisk now, the same HDD as yesterday now appears with healthy status, the errors it had on "Current Pending Sector Count", "Uncorrectable Sector Count" and "Write Error Rate" are gone.

I still clicked the Status, now Good, and the sliders were already all to the left, image below.

Should I click apply and post another image?

Leave it as it is, and then run the other hard-drive diagnostics.
