    Windows 7 freezes during Restart & Shut Down


    Hi m8s one friend of mine has a strange problem with 7 He can not restart or shut down without hitting the power button in his case. it goes to the logging off, and then the Shutting down screen and then just freezes. this happens every single time since the install.

    I setup his machine a few times (clean no custom setup) but the problem exists..

    Check the chipset, storage and video drivers. Make sure that you have Win7 drivers for all of them.

    Ensure that your BIOS is updated.
    Set the RAM voltages to Auto and try that.
    Ensure that you're not running an older version of ASACPI.SYS (it's located in the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder) The Win7 version is dated 2009.

    Compaq CQ70 does the same


    My problem is similar. When I logoff or try to enter sleep mode by closing the lid on my laptop it freezes usually with the log off screen.

    I removed all process before login off with no results.

    I hope you find a fix.

    I think my problem is the latest windows driver update for nvidia.
    I install the latest drvs version 191.07 ... untill now no freezes at restart and shutdown

    please give us feedback

    I've seen a couple of threads that have issues with the latest nVidia driver.
    Try rolling back the driver in Device Manager to see if that "fixes" it.
