    BSOD While Idle - wdf01000.sys ntoskrnl.exe

    Hello everyone,

I build a new system about 6 months ago.

Started having BSOD problems about a month ago.

Not exactly sure what the problem is so I am seeking some help.

Attached is a crash dump file.

I have checked a few crash dump files previously and mentioned the errors mentioned in the title in the probably caused by line.

The BSOD only happens when idle. It never happens if i am using the computer regularly or if I have a torrent running.

    Any help is appreciated.

If you need the system specs. I will post them once I get home from work tonight.

    Thanks,
      My Computer

It seems that Avast! AV is causing problems for you.

Please remove it and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials & the Free version of Malwarebytes, update and make full scans separately:

       Note
Do not start the trial version of MalwareBytes
You may also take a look at:

And next time you get a BSOD. Grab all and upload a new zip.

    ------------------------
Reduce the start-up items, Antivirus software is basically whats required.

    ------------------------
Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:
    • Click on the
    • Type CMD on Search
    • Left click and Run as Administrator
    • Type SFC /scannow - read here

Run Disk Check on your Hard Drive for file system errors and bad sectors on it - read here

    5. Select one item under it, right click, uninstall.
    6. Continue the process for all items under "Disc Drives"
    7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate system driver, msahci.sys.

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:

    • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
    • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

    Hello all,

I'm still having an issue when the computer goes into sleep mode. I have done everything all the fixes as instructed above.

I currently have turned never go into sleep mode but was wondering if there is a fix for this issue.

Everything seems fine when it's working and even idle. But when it attempts to go into sleep mode, it would crash and restart the computer.

    Any ideas?

For a desktop PC, Sleep is not anything that is required. It is a mechanism for mobile computers mainly, to save battery usage.

Enable driver verifier .... Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Put the computer to sleep. Wake it up. It is supposed to BSOD. Post it following the BSOD posting instructions.
