BSOD or crash on hibernate or sleep mode

    Hello,
I've been having this problem for about two weeks in which my computer refuses to hibernate or go into sleep mode when I am away from it, and I end up with it either giving me BSOD or it restarts and gives me a message telling me the system recovered from a serious error, and asks if I want to send the info to Windows, but then it never seems to go anywhere.
Scans of the memory turned out fine, and I also turned off all sorts of peripheral things from the startup lineup. I see a few other people have been having trouble with their Wifi driver and wonder if that's my problem too.

I am running Windows 7 Starter that came with my machine (Acer Aspire One Happy netbook).

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.11
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 7a
    BCP1: C0563B68
    BCP2: C0000010

    BCP4: AC76DF40
    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0

Here's the files. Please let me know if you need any more info. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

    2. It will open the "computer management" window.
    3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
    4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
    5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
    6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
    7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.

    Looks like it's solved

    Dear Arc,
Thank you for your help in diagnosing the Intel Rapid Storage as the main issue. After getting rid of that, I have successfully been able to put the computer into Hibernate with no crashing.

I also ran a the memtest scan for 7 passes (13 hours) and it found no errors. So if it continues to have no problems, it would seem to be the fault of the Intel Rapid Storage driver.

Thanks a lot for your help. I really appreciate it.

    Another BSOD appears after hibernate

    Hi Arc,

Well, it seems that I spoke too soon about the problem being solved. It solved it temporarily and I was able to use hibernate and sleep mode without seeing the BSOD, but it just now has shown up again not too long after coming out of hibernate (maybe 10-15 minutes later).

I have not reinstalled the Intel Rapid Storage, but have downloaded updates to various other programs (and the slew of Windows 7 updates that just came out) since then.

I'm including the file from the diagnostic tool in hopes it will help pinpoint the issue.

    Thank you!

    Hi link8.

It is another stop 0x7A. Theoretically 0x7A BSODs are not directly related/caused by sleep-hibernate. But as the BSOD is causing at that time, we should concentrate on some points.

First, follow the rest two of my earlier post, as we need to check the health of the HDD and the RAM.

Scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.

Also, follow Power Plan Settings - Change.
At step 5, expend Hard Disk > Turn off Hard Disk after > Never. Then apply and OK.

Results of HDD Crystal Dew scan

    Hi Arc,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
I had already done the Memtest86 and it didn't find any errors in over 7 passes and 13 hours of scanning.

But I just downloaded the Crystal Dew tool and it looks like we may have a winner (or loser) in this ring. Please take a look and let me know what you think. The first several items on the list that say they're going over the threshold don't bode well (like read error rate, spin up time, and reallocated sectors count), but I'm not sure what to make of it. Get a new hard drive I guess?

Text file attached...please let me know if you need another format and I will try to do that. Since it is a netbook, a screen shot does not come out nicely.

It appears that there is some read error.

Perform a disc check using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows.

    test results

Well, both the quick test and the extended test say "PASS"...
We're starting to wonder if it's a corrupt operating system or maybe motherboard going bad? Not sure. Maybe we'll just have to give up and reinstall the operating system. I didn't want to have to do that but the possibilities seem to be getting fewer.

The Anti-rootkit scan came out normal, no problems detected.

I've noticed that I've had some troubles with the Wifi not connecting well when other machines are connecting fine, too, but I am not sure whether it is related or a separate issue.

Hope to hear if you have any ideas.
    Thanks.

Go for a clean install. It will minimize the chance of a driver caused BSOD at least.
