    Random Restarts, Lockups, and BSODs

(Well then, as I was beginning to type this, my computer locked up once, then after rebooting I tried again and it randomly restarted on me, my luck, right?)

Hello. I have been experiencing lockups, restarts, and BSODs as of recent. My computer is 2-3 years old, and most of my information is located in my profile related to my system specs. This issue has begun occurring about a month or two ago, malwarebytes has had 2 full scans through my computer and has found nothing, Microsoft Security Essentials(My static antivirus) did not pick anything up as well. I've opened up my case and cleaned out the dust, I've given my hardware a good look over and noticed nothing out of the ordinary (no bulging capacitors, no dead fans) which is a bit disheartening. Usually I come here and read other posts for my issues, but this one I can -not- solve on my own, this is my 3rd day of attempting to diagnose my computer's problem and I don't think I'm getting anywhere. (Which is bad considering I have weekly papers to do for college classes as well, looks like I get to practice my handwriting in any case today.)
Help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

    Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

    1. Click on the start button
    2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
    3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
    4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
    5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Most probably you tried to re-install the network driver very shortly?

You need to do it, but not that version that you are trying. Get the Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program dated 2013/9/24 from Realtek.

Yes, apparently network is an issue there.

Also, for display, install the NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL only.

    • Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
      • 3D Vision Control Driver
      • 3D Vision Driver
      • Graphics Driver
      • HD Audio Driver
      • PhysX
      • nvidia Update

(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
    • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
    • Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

As it is an old branded desktop (more or less three years I guess), two information is very vital to know.

    • Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

I'd like to add that opening tabs in waterfox is seeming to trigger lag for me before i preform this step you've instructed me, i'm currently probably going to have to reboot to fix this lag before i can do much else.

I've completed the steps listed above.

I'm at 530 required on wattage and I have a 750 watt PSU, so that appears to be alright, uploading my snapshot of Speccy in this post.

Engaging in some gameplay to test if computer will freeze up now.

Computer restarted without prompt immediately after 10 minutes of gameplay on The Witcher 2 at High graphical quality default

Just checked up on my 4 CPU fans, 2 of them are shot and one of the two is absolutely dead. This makes a lot more sense now, I won't call it though until I'm certain. I'm going to spend some time now investigating the nature of the fan failures and if they're recoverable at all.

Some good time fixing up the busted fans and everything is back in working order. Moral of the story, run the computer and watch the fans operate if unsure of fans. Thanks for the help, I'd probably not have checked the fans earlier the 2nd time if not for the assistance. My CPU is much happier now. :)

    Really a great news!

Now observe how it is working. Take a time to observe, for at least seven days. If there is no more BSODs during that time, you may consider that it was the sole issue; and the case is solved.
