Have you tried a Clean Boot with only the recommended performance AV (not Norton bloatware) starting with Win7, and the other Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

If you've just deleted the Alcohol crapware files then it is still lodged in registry and elsewhere and can cause the problems.

If this is still the factory preinstalled Win7 then that is the worst possible install one can have. Most tech enthusiasts will not even run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything you need to get a perfect install is in the blue link.

In addition I would test the HD using maker's HD Diagnostic, test RAM - Test with Memtest86+ for 5-6 passes, just before install wipe the HD first from the DVD Command line using Diskpart Clean Command, .

+1 to gregrocker. I clean reinstall the way he suggested you will help you the most.
Initially after the clean reinstall, keep Norton aside and use the suggested security programs, at least for a testing purpose.

Recently we have noticed a few issues with MSI laptops where the BUNDLED MOUSE is playing a big deal in all the issues. Removing the mouse gives a great relief to some MSI laptop users. Dealt with one very recently .... within two days, but failing to find the link to that thread ATM.
