Hi YoYo155 :)
DriverSweeper_3.2.0.exe is unsafe.
I downloaded "DriverSweeper" via the now closed tutorial Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Checked the download through VirusTotal -- DriverSweeper_3.2.0.exe contained three possible risks.
Posted my findings on the "Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling" thread/tutorial.
Suggestions by others were made that it might be a false positive.
Consequently checked my download with, Metascan, VirusTotal (again), Virusscan.Jotti, and VirScan.
Metascan, VirusTotal,Virusscan.Jotti ... all confirmed "OpenCandy" in "DriverSweeper_3.2.0.exe"
Metascan: only presented an historical scan (3-June-2013), would not allow a rescan (?)
VirusTotal: fresh scans on two tests.
. . . consistently found -- Win32/OpenCandy, Win32.Troj.Generic.a.(kcloud), and Trojan.Win32.A.Clicker.5429372
VirusScan.Jotti: only presented a historical scan (2-Oct-2013), forced a fresh scan.
. . . rescan presented a cleaner, but not perfect, result ??
VirScan: looked like taking 55 minutes to upload the EXE for testing, I gave up)
My desktop Bitdefender + Malwarebytes both returned a "clean" file.
?
Attempted to install "DriverSweeper" and sure enough it contains "OpenCandy" (abandoned the install)
. . . Install wizard did not offer an option to not install "OpenCandy" before I got to the "Install" page.
About 4 other familiar contributors on this forum were involved within about 15 minutes.
"Airbot" then advised (by email) ...
I'm going to remove this for further review /or modification. Driversweeper was usually always safe, but as we don't allow direct downloads of programs as is in the tutorial, and it having OpenCandy, I'm going to take it away for now.
I have another engagement that I am already late for -- will get back to this thread later today (its 8am here and after midnight for you)
Thanks again for your support :)
