Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

See my post DriverSweeper_3.2.0.exe does not get a clean bill of health.

    -----
    EDIT: 2 hours later
unfortunately Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling is no longer available.
The DriverSweeper_3.2.0.exe download contains "OpenCandy" + 2 other noxious extras.
Read on -- there might be a workaround -- I hope!

    Thanks Golden, +1 :)
I did try all of your suggestions,
Looks like "driversweeper_3.2.0.exe" from that source is dodgy!

Hi GrayGhost2 & Golden :), Can someone fill me in on what I might have missed?
If I understand correctly the link provided in the tutorial is unsafe?

GrayGhost2 what did you manage to complete so far?
Yes uninstall those three NVIDIA items :) .

    Hi YoYo155 :)
    DriverSweeper_3.2.0.exe is unsafe.

I downloaded "DriverSweeper" via the now closed tutorial Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
Checked the download through VirusTotal -- DriverSweeper_3.2.0.exe contained three possible risks.
Posted my findings on the "Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling" thread/tutorial.
Suggestions by others were made that it might be a false positive.
Consequently checked my download with, Metascan, VirusTotal (again), Virusscan.Jotti, and VirScan.

Metascan, VirusTotal,Virusscan.Jotti ... all confirmed "OpenCandy" in "DriverSweeper_3.2.0.exe"
Metascan: only presented an historical scan (3-June-2013), would not allow a rescan (?)
VirusTotal: fresh scans on two tests.
    . . . consistently found -- Win32/OpenCandy, Win32.Troj.Generic.a.(kcloud), and Trojan.Win32.A.Clicker.5429372
VirusScan.Jotti: only presented a historical scan (2-Oct-2013), forced a fresh scan.
    . . . rescan presented a cleaner, but not perfect, result ??
VirScan: looked like taking 55 minutes to upload the EXE for testing, I gave up)

My desktop Bitdefender + Malwarebytes both returned a "clean" file. ?

Attempted to install "DriverSweeper" and sure enough it contains "OpenCandy" (abandoned the install)
. . . Install wizard did not offer an option to not install "OpenCandy" before I got to the "Install" page.

About 4 other familiar contributors on this forum were involved within about 15 minutes.
"Airbot" then advised (by email) ...
I'm going to remove this for further review /or modification. Driversweeper was usually always safe, but as we don't allow direct downloads of programs as is in the tutorial, and it having OpenCandy, I'm going to take it away for now.
I have another engagement that I am already late for -- will get back to this thread later today (its 8am here and after midnight for you)
Thanks again for your support :)

Because "driversweeper.exe" is no longer available would RevoUninstaller better to uninstall ?
And what about the NVIDIA PhysX item in Revouninstaller list ?

According to SystemSpec "report" I have no chipset driver. ?

I got as far as downloading "driversweeper.exe" ... and then trying to find a clean version (without success)
I have not deleted any of the NVIDIA items.

Thanks for the update :) .
You can remove any nVidia entry in revo-uninstaller's list, it's OK as you don't have an nVidia
    chipset, yours is Intel's :) .

Then simply follow through the rest of post #6, if you have any questions don't be shy :) .

Thank you "YoYo" for your reassurance and support. :)

Just spent 4 hours trying to clarify driver download, by investigating Toshiba Support web pages + nVidia pages.
Toshiba support pages are a shambles.
They do not recognise my ... model, part number, nor serial number, as per the laptop sticker.
       Note
    Model:= Satellite C665
    Model/Part number:= PSC55A-008005
    Serial Number:= 7B479268Q

    Finally found ...

    Toshiba Satellite C665/008 Downloads
Version: 8.17.12.67 ... Display driver (Audio driver is a separate download v1.2.18.0)
    Download:- "tc50088300e.exe"
Released: 28-Aug-2011 ... as best I can identify at version 9.18.13.546 history list
    Size: 123 MB

    Satellite C655-SPST04M Support | Toshiba
    - only laptop model Toshiba recognise is "Satellite C655-SPST04M" (the "SPST04M" is a new one on me)
    - the only user-manual available is in Spanish, no English version. So maybe the "SPST04M" points to "Spanish"
    Version: 9.18.13.546
    Download: tc50125800j.exe
    Released: 14-Aug-2012
    Size: 236 MB

NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 331.58 Driver WHQL
    - nVidia specs confirm with SystemSpecs app "Display Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 315M"
    Version: 331.58 WHQL
    GeForce download: 331.58-notebook-win8-win7-32bit-international-whql.exe
    Released: 21-Oct-2013
    Size: 192 MB

Toshiba drivers are ancient in comparison with iNividia GeForce
My anxiety levels are inhibiting, but I must get this fix done.
I would like to tackle more fixes with confidence...
. . . like learning to swim. My father threw me in at the deep end.

Nothing like a leap of faith heavily tinged with white knuckle fear.

It's not that bad if you enjoyed the hunt .
I've had my fair share of OEM websites that claim to not recognize the laptop for some reason
and as you found out for yourself the drivers are more often than not completely outdated.

Your laptops does in fact have the GeForce 315M onboard, it's true that there are newer drivers
than the one suggested in the quote (in post #6) and we tend to suggest it as it's a reliable
known to be stable version which is the latest before the mess that has hit us
    with the 320.18 release.

No need for fear :) .
