    BSOD viewing online video -Locale ID = 1033 & BCCode = 116

    Hello,

I got the BSOD just as an Advertisement was ending while attempting to watch a news video linked on MSN's main page. I have attached the dump file info as instructed. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hello and welcome :) .
A TDR (Timeout Detection Recovery) is not a bugcheck in the true sense in that something
has went terribly wrong in the kernel which forced the machine to crash.

"Display driver xxxxx stopped responding and was recovered"

Timeout Detection & Recovery (TDR) = "Display Driver Stopped Responding and was Recovered" is a useful feature that started in Vista and is also in W7 that allows the OS to try and recover from a video timeout so that the system does not crash to a bluescreen. Symptoms included a screen flash with the TDR message appearing one or more times or the screen blinking out to black. If the system cannot recover it will crash (Stop Error 116 typical). The issue is that the video card is not responding as expected. The solution is in the: why?

There is no one-size-fits-all solution to TDR errors. But the problem is usually found in the local environment (your computer). Finding the cause is a matter of checking every possible cause and uncovering the culprit through a simple process of elimination. By methodically running down a checklist of diagnostic procedures you should be able to find the cause and can correct it.

There are numerous reports of hardware solutions to TDR's. The most common are:

    • Poor Cooling
    • Problems with the power supply
    • Overclocking Issues
    • Bad System memory or incorrect memory timings
    • Defective PC Components

The Asus website doesn't offer any tangible updates (update to the 26.12.2011 update if the AMD
website fails to offer anything better)
Try AMD first :: AMD Driver Autodetect ::
    Asus :: ASUS 8_861_Asus_Vista_Win7_WHQL ::

Also you have your onboard graphics enabled as well, is that for a particular reason?

    Post back with the results.

Thanks for the reply YoYo155. I don't imagine it will take a tremendous amount of troubleshooting since I just installed a new video card the day before the error...lol. I appreciate your help! I will go back to my previous graphics card, and strongly suspect this will correct the issue.

Thanks Again. Sorry for the very delayed reply, but it was the video card. I purchased a new video card & all is well (except some of the settings for my multiple displays change when the system comes out of standby). I have a feeling that this little issue will take some trial & error -on my part- to resolve. You guys are great...I really appreciate the help!
