    BSOD Randomly, STOP: 0x000000F4 Error

    Hello,
The past few weeks I've been having a lot of troubles with my computer. The main one is that my computer BSOD's randomly then when it tries to boot up again the SSD doesn't appear in the boot device list and it doesn't boot. Then if you wait a while it sometimes works and it sometimes doesn't.
    The full error is:
    STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA8006F36060, 0xFFFFFA8006F36340, 0xFFFFF80002F7F7B0)
    Specs (Dell XPS 9000):
    Intel Core i7 975 Extreme 3.33ghz
Samsung 128gb 840 Pro Solid State Drive (Has OS on)
    640GB SATA Hard drive
Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti 2gb OC
    6GB DDR3 RAM
    Dell X58 Motherboard

    What can I do?
    Thanks,
    Lachy

    Hi Slothalicious.

Make it sure that the Samsung 840 PRO Series SSDis running with the up-to-date firmware.
Samsung SSD (Solid State Drive) 840 series | Samsung SSD Website

Also if possible, try to update the BIOS, as SSDs need updated BIOS and firmware to run properly.

    Let us know the result.

    Hi,
It's been going fine for about 8 months and is only recent. I've updated the SSD firmware but not the BIOS. I'll try that tomorrow.
    Thanks,

    Hi Lachy,

Kindly update the BIOS of the system from the link below:

    Driver Details | Dell US

And, also let us know when you mention the SSD disappears does that mean it disappears from BIOS itself. If possible reseat your SSD to ensure it is properly connected:

    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-produ...nual_en-us.pdf

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

    Hello,
I've updated the SSD firmware and the BIOS firmware. I'll let you know how it goes, and also the SSD does disappear from the BIOS and boot menu.
    Thanks,

At first make it sure that the SATA/Power cables are properly connected. If so, replace the SATA cables and try to connect to another unused SATA port on the motherboard.

If still it is the same, you need to replace the HDD/SSD.

    Hi Lachy,

Thanks for providing us this information. I believe it would be better if you swap the cables between the SSD and harddrive.

This would help us isolate if it is an issue with SSD,Cable or the Motherboard.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

    Hello,
I've replaced the SATA cable from the SSD to the Motherboard with another one and it appears to have fixed it. Hasn't happened for a few days now.
    Thanks for the help,
