PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_ERROR 0x000000b6

The issue recurred, and I was able to save some time because of a system image, which still wasn't as updated as I would have liked it to be.... I believe I know why this entire sordid set of events happened.

Since I was dual booting Windows 7 & 8, rebooting from one to another produced the "The recycle bin on X: is corrupt. Do you want to empty it?" dialog. In addition, Windows 8 kept finding file system errors that had to be fixed by chkdsk. Again and again and again....


There seem to be 2 reasons for this :

• Changing the permissions of the recycle bin seems to trigger this message
• Keeping Hiberboot enabled results in the boot drive of windows 8 to be marked "dirty", which windows 7 tries to fix, unhelpfully.
• I suspect some more factors mucking it up

Basically, each time windows 8 booted up it found something messed up, and offers to clean it up, putting it in found.000. This happened enough times that I noticed the size of Windows 7 reduced a lot, almost to 20GB, and then it stopped booting... With all the symptoms encountered in this thread. One of the major effects of this is that all restore points in the Windows 7 drive were deleted, in the process of fixing filesystem errors.

So I don't think the issue is fully solved yet : What do I do to keep Windows 7 and 8 off each others' territory?

I am not going to boot into windows 8 till I get some more data and solutions, so counting on you guys....
