BSOD while installing software, error 0x124

    Hello,

I'm hoping you guys can help me out here. I'm getting random BSODs, more often when doing random stuff like installing software or virus scan. Doesn't happen too often while stressing the system with IntelBurnTest. Sometimes, it also happens while the system is idle. I've already tried to analyze the minidumps and I think it's a problem with the cpu cache, but I would like to rule out any other possibilities. Thanks for taking the time to help.

Not impossible, as some cache errors are reported.

But, it is a stop 0x124 with the first parameter 0, so such information may not be 100% trustworthy, it is seen the same in ALL those cases, and we know that the CPU is the most stable part of the hardware.

So, before blaming the CPU, let us take a few other steps.

Make it sure that your Corsair Force SSDs are running with the latest firmware.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

    Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

The temperature during Furmark and Prime95 are very important. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer during these tests. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

    Let us know the results.

Pretty sure this isn't up to date. But I left work already so I cant change this.

This system was an upgrade of just the motherboard and cpu. I pulled out all the RAM already and have only 1 stick left in the system. It still BSOD'd so I swapped to another stick with the same issues. This was happening on a previous installation of windows so I no longer have the dumps, but the error codes were the same.

Ran Prime95 yesterday for about 4 hours without incident. The cpu does run a bit hot though, like around 95C (HWMonitor). It idles around 35C. Previously I ran IntelBurnTest on max and it BSOD'd on the 9th cycle. On a previous windows install, it crashed while I was downloading drivers.

Since the system is at work, I cant really run anything on it, but maybe this additional information may be of some use. Thanks again and I appreciate the help.
