what do you recommend?
As Layback Bear pointed out, I already told you. Do a clean install with a legal copy of Windows 7 and we will be happy to help. Once that is done and has been activated, you may not need any further help, but if you do, please come back here and we will be happy to help.
I switched my hdd around with one from my laptop that is running windows xp and i know this one works fine and it did the same thing. And i did the genuine windows 7 thing where i put in the long line of numbers and it said it was fine?
Corrput registery? Windows will load but i have black screen of death
iv done some looking around and im trying to delete x:/windows/system32/config/software but it says its in use by another process. i assume this is the case with the rest such as sam and security etc.. im in dos via the windows 7 recovery cd. any ideas? im doing this so i can restore my registry to an earlier point.
X usually denotes the installation DVD, I wouldn't mess with that . Plus one thing not to do is change the system files. The system files are there to make the system run right. You can read things all over the internet that are plain dumb. Unless you are a programmer with a lot of experience in the Windows 7 system files and hat they are, I would never change any system files. They are there for a reason. Don't listen to all the garbage on the internet.
