So I was attempting to skrink a video down and BSOD came up. I would post it but it is 1.5 gigs in size. THis is the best I could do.

A little about my machine. I just recently formatted and started over a week ago, something I do once a year. All Windows updates applied, very little software installed at the moment. I would like to start this process over again but not if it is going to BS again

What exactly do you mean by 'shrink' - make the video shorter or crop the video. What tool did you use for that.

I would have recommendations for both operations.

If you want to keep the whole content, you should convert the MPEG2 file to FLV. That will be a somewhat lesser quality but a lot smaller. Try that with Format Factory.

Format Factory Home Page - Free media file format converter

With Format Factory you can also crop the video which would make it somewhat smaller too. But not as much as you are looking for.

But if you only want to shorten the Video, use the Windows Movie Maker.

The software I use is fine Ive been using it probably going on two years. I also use camtasia and I convert 2-5gig files down into FLV and MP4 without issues. I will consider your option as well. Thanks
