    BSOD while boot - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_EQUAL - ndis.sys

    Hi Everyone,

I'm at the end of my (somewhat limited) knowledge.

I tried to fix my dads computer today and uninstalled some useless junk he picked up on the way (mostly the great Ask.com toolbar and the free McAfee AV).

Idk what happened but after a restart I only get BSODs just shy of the login screen.
After some to and from I was no finally able to reach the basic secure mode to retrieve the minidump but that's about it

I hope someone can help. My dad needs his computer and my only other idea would be to extract his data and re-install Windows

    BSOD minidump:

    Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

    1. Click on the start button
    2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
    3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
    4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
    5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

It is needed to see to suggest the appropriate driver.
    Code:

The device is D-Link AirPlus DWL-G520 Wireless PCI Adapter(rev.B)

No feasible update is there with D-Link: D-Link Technical Support
But You may get it from Atheros: Drivers for Atheros AR9285 and Windows 7
So it seems to be the appropriate one.

    • Version: 10.0.0.255
    • Release: 2013-07-02

Install it by following Driver Install - Device Manager

    Let us know the results.

    IT WORKED !!

Boot did take pretty long (its not really a fast computer to begin with) but it is running smoothly for now.
I will monitor it further and will come back to this thread if anything should change.

Thank you so very much for your expertise and quick help.

    Cheers

    That's not fair.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

    1. Click on the Start button
    2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
    3. Select the “Startup” tab.
    4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus, Microsoft Security Client; MSC.
    5. Apply > OK
    6. Accept then restart.

Now take a restart as a test. Does it improve the booting process anyhow?
