BOOTMGR image is corrupt
Hello.. Looking for a little help.
I recently increased the speed of my memory via the BIOS to take full advantage of my OCZ Gold DDR2 1066 2x2gb memory (memory is currently my biggest performance hurdle and more is being sent via fedex.) The BIOS of the Biostar 790GXE 128M defaults the speed of the memory to 400 mhz and I was attempting to update it to 533. This was completed successfully and upon restart, Windows 7 Professional x64 hung upon a page that said "Loading files" with a progress bar at the bottom. The progress stopped at fully complete and sat for 2.5 hours before I finally turned the PC off. Upon reboot, I received a "Bootmgr image is corrupt. The system cannot boot." message. I reset the memory back to 400 mhz, restarted and received the same "Loading Files" page but this time it stopped at about half way through. I again rebooted the PC and received the same "Bootmgr image is corrupt, The system cannot boot." message to the same error again and again. Following various other advice from this forum, I have downloaded the proper ISO file and used the Win7 USB DVD Download Tool to burn the ISO to a DVD to attempt to repair. I have verified that the BIOS is setup to load the USB, then DVD then HDD (win7 is on the HDD not SSD).. Upon entering the DVD and restarting, I receive a prompt that says "press any key to boot from the DVD," which I do. Windows then brought up a "Loading Files" prompt with progress bar that never finishes. I restarted again, received the same prompt for "press any key to boot from the DVD," and upon pressing any key I now get "BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot." I am scratching my head at this point... Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks! After rebooting and attempting to load the DVD, I got this message once. No clue what it means or if it points anyone into a helpful direction. It means jibberish to me. Adam |
