On my desktop there is a mysterious black box, I can re-size it but I can't close it. Here is a screen shot of it:

Looks like it might be a part of Windows Live Messenger.
Hover your mouse cursor over the Windows Live Messenger icon that's on your task bar and see if the black window is one of those icons.

It looks like an orphaned window from Command Prompt.

I am most interested in the orphaned command prompt reply, note I didn't find any unknown processes that were obvious and right clicking it does nothing, I don't think it had anything to do with Messenger. Closing it with Alt F4 did work and it did not start up again after a restart.

Start menu search box. Type msconfig, hit enter. Go to startup tab. Check what is starting with your pc. Use regedit to find any offensive key(s) if any and delete.

    After, scan with Malwarebytes.

This black box is due to GTA IV Rockstar Social club.

Both I and my friend had this issue and noticed we both have the game. I also noticed that you have it. Once we ended the process for it the black box disappeared.
