    BSOD during Chkdsk after Driver Update Failure.


    Windows update tried to install some updates this evening, including one which failed. This appeared to be some kind of update to my nvidia geforce graphics card. The internet recommended running a disk check on the OS drive in response to this. The check gets to part 4 of 5, and then suddenly crashes to a BSOD.

    System Specifications: ASUS K52Jc OS: MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)

    The graphics card (I think) is now listed as an unrecognised device and windows is unable to do anything with it, it seems.

    My computer has been giving me some gyp lately. I recently decided to change my security from MSE to Avast. Avast keeps finding what it thinks is a rootkit, but I have been advised here that it is probably wrong about this. The system is running a little sluggishly though. SuperAntiSpyware finds nothing unusual, but MalwareBytes doesn't seem to be working...

    One more small question; do you know how to get virus scanners and the like to include my NAS in a 'full scan'? It doesn't appear to be scanned when I select 'removable media' on Avast.

    I believe you need to re-post that zip file as nothing shows up when i open it in explorer. There is no file(s) showing up.

    That's the zip file that the tool gave me. I've run it again though, and got a much larger file, so hopefully that will be more useful!
