BSOD playing Hearthstone/Dota 2, (RAM related?)
Hello there,
so the last couple of days i got several BSOD while playing Hearthstone or Dota 2.
Message is "A device driver attempting to corrupt the system...".
Before that i had my screen turn black, then resume to normal after some time, also while playing those games.
My system specs are:
Intel® Core™ i5-2500K
Gainward GeForce GTX 570 Phantom
2x G.Skill DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1333 Kit
Western Digital WD5000AAKX 500 GB
Monitor BenQ G2220HD
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
i was browsing through the game forums already for the screen turning black error and i read something about either graphics driver or RAM related issues.
So i ran memtest already, i did 8x 2048mb tests, and i got 4 Errors :
copying failed from 760009d to 7600040
from c00889d to c008825
from ed43a80 to ed4389d
from 6729ccb to 6729c9d.
I stopped Memtest after about 2.5 hours. Noteworthy is that all 4 Errors appeared in one and the same memtest out of those 8 only.
So i guess one of those 2 Sticks is corrupted? I read i can only find out which one it is by plugging each one in seperately and testing them individual for errors, is that right? Im not too comfortable screwing around on my computer.. Is it safe to plug one out, restart with half memory, test, and do the same vice versa?
If i found the broken RAM, should i replace with the same kind/brand of RAM stick or should i get a whole new pack? any hints are appreciated!
