BSOD randomly, no recent hardware installs

    Hey y'all!

New member here looking for some help with random BSODs.

It seems like it happens the most when I'm playing music on my computer, the music being stored on my primary hard drive. Sometimes it will happen as Windows is loading, before the computer has a chance to load the login screen.

The error varies at times from IRQL LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO or SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION.

I hope this is enough detail to start with, please let me know if I can provide any further information. Also, attached to this post is my zip file made by the SF Diagnostic Tool.

    Hi basic flair.

    Do some Disc checks.

    1. Re-seat the sata and power.
    2. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
    3. Test the HDDs: SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use

Scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.

Let us know the results, and upload any further BSODs.

Arc is spot on. You're having big time disk errors.

At this point I can't tell if it's a problem with the disk or the disk controller, but I would suggest backing up any important data immediately.

Once you've done that, look for updated drivers for your motherboard's disk controller and run the disk checks that Arc suggested. In particular, you want to focus on the device plugged into \Device\Harddisk2\DR2.

The controller is pciide.sys, the system native IDE ATA/ATAPI controller. Which is not supposed to cause a problem (other than a tootkit infection). So you may keep the controller part out of focus for the time being.

As a note, chkdsk took several hours to run.

I have downloaded the other tools suggested by Arc and will be running them asap. When I followed step one, I also managed to clear out quite a bit of nasty dust that had accumulated on between the CPU fan and the heatsink. I don't know if this does any good for my current issue but I figured I might as well pass the info along.

Results of Seatools tests, following option one:

    Short DST: Both discs passed
    Short generic: Both discs passed

Long generic is running, I'll update the thread in the morning and start TDSSKiller.

    Also, no further BSODs.

Primary disk passed the long generic but I got this error message on my secondary drive. I'll rerun the test when I get home this evening and then move on to the TDSSKiller.

TDSSKiller turned out 0 results, couldn't post the report because the message was too long (98K characters).
