    BSOD happens randomly since Graphics Card upgrade

    Hi Guys,

    I am after your help and would like your advise before i go out and spend more money. I recently changed my graphics card from a Nvidia GTS 250 to a GTX 660. From what i have reviewed the new card draws less power so i assume it shouldnt be a problem a PSU problem i hope.

    However i have been getting BSOD randomly, i could be browsing, playing Skyrim, Elders Scroll online or watching a movie when it occurs.

    Is there any advice you guys can give.

    Thansk in advance for any help you guys can provide.

    Hi all,

    A quick update to this i did a fresh install last night hoping it would be a bad driver that was causing the problem, it is still happening and now one of the Windows updates will not install either. So any suggestion would be gratefully recieved.

    Many thanks Merl.

    Completely uninstall all NVidia drivers then reboot the computer. Use Windows Update to automatically have it install the latest Microsoft Certified NVidia driver (check in the optional updates area).

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

    You need to test your RAM DIMM's/motherboard RAM slots for errors.

    Run a minimum of 8 passes, preferably overnight, or until errors occur using MemTest86+.

    Use this tutorial to help you use MemTest86+:
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

    Hi Golden,

    Thanks for the response and i did carry out the suggest memory test with Memtest86+. This found an error with dimm slot 2 on my system board.

    I have also uninstalled the current Nvidia drivers and updated to the current Windows certified ones in windows update.

    Hopefully this will hold out now till i can afford to replace my motherboard, CPU and memory.

    Thanks again

    Merl
