Hello and welcome jpatel first and foremost mate some syetm specs would be handy I know it is a Lenovo but what model and RAM CPU etc etc see
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html

Now run this too and so we can determine the temps http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download download from piriform

One thing you can do is to turn over the laptop and shine a very bright light into the air intake aperture (you will see the fan there) and then while doing that look at the outlet vent on the end of the laptop you should see the light quite clearly shining through the cooling " radiator" if no it is clogged and will need cleaning as will probably the fan opening.
You can do this by blowing it out using a compressed air can in short bursts.
BUT ONE WORD OF WARNING DO NOT blow the air into the fan opening without inserting say a plastic rod or large cable tie to stop the fan from spinning as the air blast will spin the fan at a very high speed and one that it is not designed to take and may wreck the bearing!!

PS Just to give you a rough idea what is inside a laptop in general

Now the temps look ok but just what does this weird noise sound like? It is usually the two drives without spinning parts namely the hard drive and the optical drive spinning up that one should just about hear.
They should have some sound but like I said not so much that you notice a weird and very audible noise and it sounds to me like either could be failing. If the hard drive is failing it might go someway into explaining why the machine is freezing.
