when i head vista and started it up. when it gets to the page where u c the bar at the bottom going back and forth and vista is loadin up well sometimes when it comes to that screen is would go dull and freeze and so i would have to restart vista and it would load no probs..i ended up buyin win7 and a new hard drive and i am havin the same problem..when win 7 loads and u come to the screen were the colours spin round and join to make the windows logo well the same is happenin there aswell..the colours start movin and then just stop and it freezes and ill have to restart windows again..im startin to think this could b a hardware fault else where on board.. any one any ideas..what a carry on im havin with this win 7 lol

of course if you upgraded from vista to win 7 you are going to have the same problem. Did you upgrade, or do a claen install?

Did you download the dvd? from where? what app did you use to burn the dvd?

tired to do an upgrade but wouldnt go from vista utlimate to win 7 pro 64bit.
i got the student thing from digtal river so pain in the ass..i managed to create the image no probs so thats why i bought another hard drive.so win7 has only been on that hard drive as vista is on the old drive. so its been a clean install. ive tired unistallin one off my gigs off ram and swappin with other but still gettin the screen stickin on both vista and win 7 just incase it was that . thing is it seems to happen more when you,ve loaded the computer and i restart for what ever reason i need to. ive looked about and saw posts sayin check the voltage on the ram in the bios but i cant c from there so going need to get a program to check that. was thinkin there was something up with motherboard but when i checked asus it was on there it said about the voltage thing. ive tired to do memtest with hirens boot but its not workin on the memtest or the other option in there, think the programs might be to old for win7..cheers for the reply. after seein all the info on this site im sure i can sort this with peoples help

Yea that whole colors then freeze thing is kind of suspecting that its hardware related. Get a copy of ubuntu and see if you can run the OS from cd. Have you tried swapping some hardware such as psu's, ram, vid card, or even the whole motherboard.
