STOP: 0x0000007B on Win XP Install

I recently got a new internal hard-drive (previous one crashed). I bought a new Samsung Spinpoint N1C HS122JF 1.8" SATA Hard Drive -- very simple to install. I figured out how to get install for my DELL Latitude XT2 Notebook Tablet 12.1" Touch Screen / Intel Core 2 Duo 1.60GHz / 2GB Memory / 120GB HDD / Windows 7.

I am trying to install Windows XP (from an external CD Player connected via USB). The XP starts loading the files, but then stops after a few minutes and says:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your comuter. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

check for viruses on your computer. Revmove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive cotrollers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

    Technical information:
    **** STOP: 0X0000007B ( 0xf78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"

The Geek Squad told me this is because of a corrupt Hard Drive. Therefore, I ordered a second one, and got the same error. I searched on the error and saw some recommendations that one needs to download new Sata drivers. I thought I tried that and it didn't work, however it could have easily been due to user error. Can someone pls help?

    Many thanks.

This is an extremely common issue with XP. You need a SATA disk driver as this is not included in XP. Press F6 to load the SATA drive during start-up of the install. Download the driver for your motherboard. Also check you have disc mode in the bios set to IDE and not ACHI

Would have been better if you had posted this in an XP support forum like Windows XP | PC Help Forum instead of here in the Windows 7 support forum, but ... :)

One fix here: Installing XP: ***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)? - Cyber Tech Help Support Forums
