What type of install did you do?

I would start over following this tutorial,

There is no need to keep posting back.
You only need to post back if you are having issues.

By the way it's always helpful to update your system spec because you've now got Windows 8.1

Exactly. If you are already having problems with updates, start fresh instead of wasting a bunch of time troubleshooting. You aren't losing much since you just did an install.

This time just get all the important and recommended updates done before starting to install stuff.

Currently on my laptop. Already having an issue. I came up before when I tried to put 8.1 on my SSD/HD. I go to format it and it tells me there is an issue while formatting yet it resets my free space back to total size. Also got an error saying "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."

I also cannot boot up anymore.

I can't say I know much about this but what are you installing it with, disc, usb?

If it's disk then you might have to go into the BIOS and change what you boot from, you'll have to use UEFI if you're trying to use legacy.

You need to just slow down a bit. I'll get someone over here to help but you need to follow instructions and post back any questions before making any moves you don't understand.

Hang on a few till someone pops in with advice.
