For any future reference (other users may be experiencing same issues as me) I post this link, where it seems other people had the same problem with the same model of notebook.

The right value doesn't just make brightness control work but also allows the laptop to wake up from standby properly.
Before even attempting to solve the issue, which could prove to be a long process, I would like your confirmation on this (it would confirm my first impression, that all problems reside on the Intel 3000, and would let me narrow the range of solutions to examine), because at the beginning of all this hell I was convinced that the AMD was the source behind these problems. I just wanna be sure I got it right from you .

Bios or F8 boot-up mode screen?There is some driver compatibility issue with some recent windows update that did it. For now, I have to restart using the "disable driver signature enforcement" and it works.
Maybe instead of trying to update the intel card I may try first to clean up the system from any graphic driver and attempt a reinstall. Judging from informations of other ENVY15 3040 users, there may be a big interference between the drivers themselves, windows update, and the order in which the brand drivers of the machine itself (in my case HP, in others Sony) are installed. Correct order of installation (HP brand software, then AMD, then intel) could be of determining importance...

Yes, removing all graphics drivers from the system should be the first thing to do.
If you still encounter problems then try disabling the on board graphics. It's located in the BIOS. For me your press F2 or Del key. I've never done it to be honest because it's already disabled. There should be an option to disable on board graphics or switch the primary graphics option.
Thanks, I will look into it. I am pretty scared about tampering with the Bios setting disabling the onboard graphic card, because from what I read on Intel website, Notebooks coming with switchable graphics are pretty "sensitive". They wrote that if a pc is set as "dynamic" (like mine is), it should not be much compatible with "fixed mode" settings, even with last updates...I will try to find some more documentation on the matter, and then I will proceed to disable the on-board graphic display as per your suggestion. I want to see if this will be enough to prevent that BSOD at startup, with driver verifier switched on.
