BSOD when gaming (even after many fix attempts)

    Okay..! I THINK the new CPU finally fixed it. Or rather, I think the old CPU was the source of half of my BSODs. With a new CPU, Prime95 no longer crashes, and I never get hal.dll BSODs while gaming.

    I also haven't gotten atikmdag.sys BSODs for a while after I cleared all proprietary AMD software except for the driver itself. Stuff like Catalyst Control Center and all that junk appears to be the cause of those BSODs.

    So... I don't want to jinx it... but I think this problem is solved! If I don't get another BSOD soon, I'll mark the thread as such.

    Thanks for all your help, thedoctor. It was extremely useful. I may have ended up still getting BSODs after replacing every single part otherwise : P
