Launch start up repair too often

Laptop will not boot, keeps rebooting after splash screen. Unplug all USB devices and it boots fine. Replug devices after booting and all devices work fine. So why won't WIndows 7 boot with USB devices plugged in?

    Hello Pazooza,

I am not sure what the problem is, but you could try to incremental add a USB device, until you know for sure which device(s) is causing the problem.

Please keep us informed about your progress, so we can assist you ;-)

Go to bios, I am pretty sure that you are set to boot from CD. Change that to boot from HD. On Dell and many others, you get to bios by repeatedly tapping f12 before the windows logo appears. If that does not work try f2, then others. I am sure that will work

    Launch start up repair again

Turns out it's NOT usb devices causing this since it is doing it with all of them unplugged. It's not boot order either. It starts to boot and you get the colorful Micorsoft flower pulsating just before it reboots. I have run repair and nothing was found to fix. I have done restore to previous good backups and it continues to reboot for no reason when starting up. It's not the Laptop because I have no problem with Ubuntu booting up. Another irritant is the time it takes to connect to the network, why the delay? When I finally do get this thing booted up, how can I fix this stupid Windows 7 problem of rebooting itself before it's fully booted?

    Hello Pazooza,

Can you try to boot in Safe Mode, to do that, press F8 when booting.

If you can boot in safe mode, for example you could look in the event log, by typing event viewer in searchbox at start button.

    Have a nice day!

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000124
    (0x0000000000000000, 0xfffffa8004f53038, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000).
    A dump was saved in:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\111409-23977-01.dmp

A fatal hardware error has occurred.
    Component: AMD Northbridge

This is apparently the cause of my rebooting problem. I don't know if it's hardware or the Windows kernel because I have no problem booting Ubuntu 9.10 nor OpenSuse Live CD.

You can zip the Minidump file, and post it to this forum, there are other people who can read it and tell you probably what is wrong.

    Best regards,
