BSOD playing any game caused by same problem

Hi everyone,

I have recently been experiencing a large number of BSOD in a short period of time and I have no idea why except that dxgkrnl.sys is causing it (I found this out by using BlueScreenViewer). I have googled the cause and nothing has helped me so far, therefore I am posting on here to see if anyone can help me. So far I have completely removed my drivers and re installed them, it is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M and they are fully updated from the NVIDIA website. I have changed setting is the NVIDIA control panel as other forum posts said this has helped them. However, none of this has helped and I am still getting BSOD. I am using a laptop so I cannot clean the fans very easily without taking the whole machine apart which I would not know how to do. I have also changed my registry to allow 8 seconds for the drivers to respond but that has also not helped.

I have attached a zip with the files from using the dm log collector from the instructions. If you require anything else please let me know.

Thanks.

Hi ,

Seems like the crash is caused by your nVidia Display drivers. Do a Driver Cleanup. Use this link nVidia Driver Cleanup Guide | Captain Debugger

Try running Furmark: Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Also too many old drivers in your system. try this tool to upgrade https://www.slimwareutilities.com/slimdrivers.php

I ran the NVIDIA cleanup guide and followed what it said, however, I did not see the point in Driver Fusion as it didnt do anything.

I ran the Funmark test but I dont know what you want me to post here about it. I could run the image with the sun on at about 2 FPS, but when I removed the sun I had 217 FPS.

I havent had any BSOD currently, however I have only played one game since so I will keep playing to ensure that it is gone. I will keep you updated.

I have had two BSOD since I have done this, however, they were not during playing games. I experienced both of these BlueScreens when watching YouTube videos so could something with my drivers cause be to not be able to watch these videos as its rather annoying not being able to watch a video.

I have done everything you have told me to and I have also took my laptop apart and cleaned the fan following an online guide which has made a massive difference to the temperature of my GPU. Could the BSOD be a result of the GPU overheating as I am yet to experience one.

My system has been stable and perfect for months. No unusual issues at all. I run a few different games and browse the internet without issue. Recently, I installed a new game, Vermintide. Game worked fine for a week. Then, my system hung. Nothing a restart shouldn't fix - except it did not....

BSOD when playing games. No specific game, just any game.
It seems something is going wrong with my GPU or one of the drivers. I feel like it's most likely hardware failure, due to extreme treatment of my laptop. What happens is the whole screen kind of just gets chopped up into squares (sometimes the patterns vary. Sometimes, it's not even a ****ing...
