Sometimes it takes multiple tries for it to write a crash dump so try it a few more times.

As for ntoskrnl.exe well that is the Kernel for Windows, it is not the cause it's just getting blamed.
Probably because Windows cannot find the Kernel driver responsible so it just blames that.
It should not be altered in any way otherwise the system will not function properly (in fact it will probably not function at all so a complete re-install would be required).

Ok thanks for your prompt reply, I was wondering does enabling minidump through system advanced settings AND with the .reg cause conflicts to it creating minidumps? I did both and it created the minidump the first time but I'm just wondering. thanks again.
