Another BSOD, now after new HDD and Win7 install and Windows updates

So last week I posted about BSOD's just after the computer booted up and/or I logged in: BSOD just after logging in and desktop comes up

I ran tests and found bad sectors on my original 3 1/2 year old Seagate 1 TB drive. So I went ahead and installed a new WD drive yesterday and started a clean reinstall of my stuff.

I reinstalled Office 2010 and a couple of other programs, then started the download/install process of 140+ updates. I had to leave the office at 5 pm before the updates were finished installing, so I just let it sit there and keep going.

This morning I came back in to a "Windows had recovered from an unexpected shutdown" message. Looking in the Event Log it looks like it happened in the 5 PM hour yesterday, and I think the updates had finished installing, but I'm not totally sure. Actually I just looked and it says there is 1 more important update and few optional ones.

Before I swapped my HDD yesterday I booted into the Dell utility partition on my old HDD and ran memory tests, and they all passed.

Any ideas?

Please update your graphics driver, it's outdated.

Here's some instructions if you are unsure how to update it.

Just updated it to the latest dated last week I believe.

Just curious, is that for sure what caused the BSOD or you just happen to see that one with an older driver?

It was pointing to your graphics driver and the fact that it was so outdated it generally fixes it.

If you get any more issues let me know.

When you feel confident that the issue has been resolved (whenever that may be) then please mark the thread as solved.

Another BSOD shutdown happened apparently Saturday morning around 4 AM according the event logs.

Should I create a different thread?

Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView:
  • Download and execute Driverview
  • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
  • Edit > Select all
  • File > Save Selected Items
  • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
  • Zip the .txt file and upload it.

Before changing drivers, make sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point Manually.

Tried both of those, the Broadcom driver would not install. Windows just keeps saying the 2009 driver is the best driver. The Intel ME driver keeps telling me my computer does not meet the minimum requirements or something.

Had another BSOD this morning. Seems like it's been happening right around 4 AM every time.

*edit* nm the Broadcom link above was to the wrong driver. I figured out that I have the 57780 model which required a different driver. So got that one updated, but still can't seem to get the Intel ME one to take.

Sorry about that, it's difficult when I can't find the exact model.

Can you run another DM log collector to see if we can find another in the Event Viewer.
