computer freezes mostly overnight but sometimes while working on it

Hi; have win 7 sp1 on dell xps 8300; has been working fine for about 2+ years; infact, I have another exactly same config still on 24hrs per day and working fine. This computer started to act up last month or so. Its on 24/7. Some mornings, the screen would be black and mouse/keyboard would not bring windows back; the computer was NOT in sleep mode and was still on but nothing would make it respond. I would have to shutdown and restart. A few times, has frozen while working such as in word.
I have updated all drivers, played with windbg, etc and cant figure out what is causing the issue.

Changed the ram, changed the bootup ssd... all same issue; only happens 1-2 every couple of weeks. Also, have added a usb3 card but that's recent which does not have correct driver but problmes started before this and have not removed it yet but will.

I have attached the diagnostics; any help would be appreciated.

Hi alihaha.

Disable hibernate, at least as a test.
Hibernate - Enable or Disable

Dont worry to disable it. It will not cause any adversity for a desktop computer.

Then observe how the situation goes. Does it BSOD in the same way? If so, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

information   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

warning   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

Tip   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Yes, mate. You are right. :) It detects Paragon Suite 12 (uim_vimx64.sys) as the failing module.

Either update it to Version 14, or uninstall it.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Alcohol 120% at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
  • Double click to open it.
  • Click this button only:
  • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
You have 37 programs in startup!
Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus. You may keep Launchy too.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Let us know the results.

BTW, what is the result of memtest86+?
