From the control panel remove all AMD software, the drivers that a laptop uses are different to a desktop, this should help with compatibility issues.
in the control panel of my laptop...it does NOT allow me to delete the AMD catalyst....just repair.
Ok... I chose the change button and I am doing removing a of it now.
Curious...can it be that it is overheating that cause the bsod. I ask because the fan is quiet now but sometimes the laptop's fan runs and the laptop heats up and then bsod kicks in. I did run that heat test you instructed and ran it for about an hour and it looked ok...
Overheating components can certainly cause BSODs, however with Furmark stress testing passing okay I'm confident that the GPU itself is not the cause.
Ok...so i have deleted all amd drivers and did a windows update. I don't see the amd driver in my control panel... now what?
Did it install the driver for you?
You will know from the way the screen looks.
If the resolution is not right then the driver will not have been installed.
Windows update did not detect it. I went to hp website and it was there to download
The screen was just right and so was the resolution with out the amd ... I went to hp website and click on the driver for graphics that came with my laptop and downloaded the latest version of ati mobility radeon video driver ...dated 10-01-2009
