Windows 7: BSOD, plus odd Windows error

So I was able to uninstall Intel RST without an issue, but it explicitly states that it doesn't uninstall the drivers. iaStor.sys is still on my system because it is still the named driver, however it looks like that is the name of the Intel driver whether it is RAID or AHCI. It is listed as an AHCI driver right now. Should I uninstall the Intel driver to get rid of iaStor.sys and use the general MS driver, or leave it as is?

In my opinion, I would leave it just the way it is. I use IRST (Intel Rapid Storage not Rapid Start) on my computer and have no problems with it. If you start having issues with it, then uninstall the drivers. I do believe you can 'roll back' the driver in device manager to MSAHCI if you so desire. But, I would give it time and see if it causes problems for you.

IRST is Intel's Raid driver, but it also contains Intel's AHCI driver and is the only way to get it that I am aware of. I have an SSD and I get significantly better performance with IRST than with MSAHCI. Others have said they do not. Perhaps it simply depends on your system and what software you use. I have never had a problem with it, but others have. If it gives you problems, get rid of it. That's my opinion.

Okay, I'll leave it as-is and see how it does. I was just concerned because aiStor is what was causing the BSODs. Hopefully breaking the RAID fixed it. Thanks for all your help!

Well I just went to go on the computer and it was on the logon screen. Looks like it did a BSOD and restarted. Here is the dump file. Notice there are probably a lot of them, but the only one that really matters is from today.

Mezzy, this time I am getting several drivers

Code:
lmvm MpFilter
start end module name
fffff880`015b3000 fffff880`015f5000 MpFilter T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: MpFilter.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\MpFilter.sys
    Image name: MpFilter.sys
    Timestamp: Tue Jan 14 17:55:38 2014 (52D5CE7A)
    CheckSum: 0004C189
    ImageSize: 00042000
    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
MpFilter.sys is the Windows anti Malware

Also

Code:
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for GEARAspiWDM.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for GEARAspiWDM.sys
Implicit thread is now fffffa80`09a6db50
Probably caused by : cdrom.sys ( cdrom!DeviceSendRequestSynchronously+c9 )
GEARAspiWDM is CD-ROM Class Filter Driver by Gear Software.
Also comes with iTunes should be able to be updated at http://www.gearsoftware.com

The CD-Rom is a windows driver Then there were also 2 references to iaStor, our old friend.

Try to go to device manager, IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers look for the AHCI controller. If it is still the Intel AHCI controller, right click it, select properties, click on the driver tab, and click on the 'roll back driver' then restart the system. I would strongly recommend creating a restore point before doing that System Restore Point - Create

Well, it just happened again, another BSOD. I attached the new dump file.
Attachment 327442

I looked at the driver for the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and it is the Intel Controller (iaStor). However, the "Roll Back Driver" option is greyed out (see image).
Attachment 327440

I also looked at the driver for the CD-ROM and there are three entries in there: cdrom.sys, GEARAspiWDM.sys, and iaStorF.sys (see second image).
Attachment 327441

What should I do?

I'm checking. Am I correct that you uninstalled IRST earlier?

Yes, I did. I uninstalled the software. But during the uninstall it tells you that it does not uninstall the drivers, which I believe is why iaStor is still there.

The dump file is identical to the last one, if not the same dump file.
