And that was through uninstalling the XHCI controller?
Yes ... I went back to current drivers and did some research.... I found a firmware upgrade and i just installed that.
Updated USB 3.0 Firmware - X79 FTW/Classified - EVGA Forums
Hopefully that does the trick.
And...... nope ;( the mystery deepens... Still crashing on shut down.
You're having no luck with this ASMedia controller mate. It's still definitely that that's causing the issue.
Do you have any peripherals plugged into your USB 3.0 ports?Code:******************************************************************************* * * * Bugcheck Analysis * * * ******************************************************************************* Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information. I did have a 360 controller plug and the wifi adapter but it doesnt matter if I take them out it still crashes regardless. Could it be a setting issue in the Bios for USB 3.0 ? Its weird that the old drivers cause an issue on those 2 hubs....
I think this may be a better/more recent driver...

Ill try it and see if it still hangs.

Yeah I've got to admit I'm scratching my head on this one. I'm going to have to do some more digging and see what I can find mate.
I thought i figured it but I was wrong... thought maybe the cable was on upside... flipped it... still crashes on shutdown.... FML

OK, something might finally be giving.
Try updating the driver for VIA Labs VL810 Superspeed USB Hub Controller Filter Driver here.Code:0: kd> !devobj fffffa800f1f2970 Device object (fffffa800f1f2970) is for: InfoMask field not found for _OBJECT_HEADER at fffffa800f1f2940 \Driver\asmthub3 DriverObject fffffa800f166970 Current Irp 00000000 RefCount 0 Type 00008600 Flags 00002040 DevExt fffffa800f1f2ac0 DevObjExt fffffa800f1f2c20 ExtensionFlags (0x00000800) DOE_DEFAULT_SD_PRESENT Characteristics (0x00000080) FILE_AUTOGENERATED_DEVICE_NAME AttachedDevice (Upper) fffffa800f1f1d40Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\vl810filter.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for vl810filter.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for vl810filter.sys \Driver\vl810filter AttachedTo (Lower) fffffa800f1cecd0 \Driver\asmthub3 Device queue is not busy
It's old.

OK so I tried that newer USB hub thing the link is for a firmware updater and .....facepalm.We seem to be at square one again. ONly thing that works is disabling all my USB 3.0 in the BIOS... and on this board its basically every usb port on the back except the mouse and keyboard...
