Yes I was. Thank you for that. Can you tell me why my other dump files were difficult to read?
Do I need to do anything because of my blue screen error?
Like I said in an earlier post, most of my unexpected shutdowns were whilst I was using my download manager. I just want to know if this can be discounted or not. Is it worth me posting my specs?
Thanks for your quick reply.
Stewart
This one is "difficult to read" also, for reasons which have absolutely nothing to do with your problem, so I'll spare you the in-depth technicalities.
The specs are always almost entirely irrelevant when dealing with crash issues. I mean, don't get me wrong - post away - but it's not like your crash is occurring because "you don't have enough RAM" or "that processor is not a good fit for that mobo", or anything along those lines.
Can you tell me more about the firewire device please? Disk? Camera? Does the "download manager" dump stuff onto an external firewire-connected HDD perhaps?
No problem. When it's all done I'll get you to pour that beer down the DVD drive and FTP it over
Hi again.
My firewire is for my camcorder device. This has not been on for a while, connected I mean. I connected it last night to finish home movies off.
The firewire is connected to the pc constantly but is rarely used.
My download manager is Internet Download Manager. It downloads to external hard drives. Never internal drives.
They are connected to a usb hub.
Do you need to know what external drives they are?
Pouring now......
There's something strange about the dump types your machine produces and it makes analysis quite challenging. To get around that, I'd like to have a copy of the kernel (file) from your machine. Normally, it's against "best practices" to send bits of the OS around, but in this instance it's morally OK because I say so (and because I'm only using it for troubleshooting!)
Can you please zip up this file from your machine...Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe ... and upload the zip archive to someplace like megaupload or rapidshare.com, then send me the link as a private message.
There is absolutely nothing "private" in your copy of the kernel, and in fact it is identical to millions of others, but the machine I'm on right now is different and I don't have access to that file.
Hello again H2SO4.
Sorry I have taken a while to reply. Kids and roast dinner to sort out!
I really appreciate your help with this. I will pm you in a couple of hours once I have got the kids sorted!
It will be great to know what is wrong and how you did it!
I have much to learn.
The crashes described by your minidumps are complex, and there may be more than one root cause. However, here's what the latest one looked like - the one which made me think of firewire involvement:
Call Site
nt!IopCompleteRequest
nt!KiDeliverApc
nt!KiApcInterrupt
nt!ExReleaseFastMutex
61883!Av1394_BusResetWorkItem
nt!IopProcessWorkItem
nt!ExpWorkerThread
nt!PspSystemThreadStartup
nt!KxStartSystemThread
I don't know enough about this code or about firewire itself to understand the significance of the "bus reset work item", but the implication is that the connected firewire device and/or its driver are involved in the crash.
Hence, can you please detach all firewire peripherals temporarily (the cables can stay - I'm only keen on the devices themselves being disconnected), and then monitor the situation. I doubt that will stop all your crashes, but it's important to simplify the situation as much as possible.
After that, please upload more minidumps as they happen, and please don't remove the DisablePagingExecutive=1 setting for now.
=======================================
It's also a good idea to pre-emptively update some of the older drivers, although I don't have any direct evidence of their involvement:

What the heck is PxHlpa64.sys? That's the second time in as many days. Do you recall installing "MusicMatch" SomethingTHingy jukebox software?
The stuff in pink is VMware. Again, no direct reason to blame it, but could you perhaps uninstall it if you don't absolutely need it in the next few days?
Hello H2SO4,
I will disable those as you advised and keep you posted. That music thing maybe my winamp.
Thanks for all your help so far.
