    BSOD after waking from sleep Unexpected Shutdown fltmgr.sys

    When touching power button to waken HP Zbook14, I get BSOD, with error listing fltmgr.sys
    I ran SF Diagnostics Tool, it appears to hang after running a couple of steps.
    I am attaching the zip file SF_18-06-2014, it appears to contain only the .dmp files, EVENTApp.txt and EventSys.txt. Please let me know what to change if I need to run SF Diagnostics Tool again.

    The machine does not appear to throw errors except when power button is touched to bring out of sleep.

    Thank you

    Hello, and welcome to SevenForums!

    Your BSOD seems to be caused by your HP ProtectTools Device Access Manager driver:

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY (be)
    An attempt was made to write to readonly memory. The guilty driver is on the
    stack trace (and is typically the current instruction pointer).
    When possible, the guilty driver's name (Unicode string) is printed on
    the bugcheck screen and saved in KiBugCheckDriver.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: fffff880024aa7b0, Virtual address for the attempted write.
    Arg2: 00000000050ae121, PTE contents.

    Your best bet would be to go to the HP Website and download the latest drivers for your desktop model.

    However, I can't be sure of how outdated that driver is, because the Diagnostic Tool did not gather enough information. Please go back to the BSOD Posting Instructions, and trry "Option 2". Then, post that .zip file here as an attachment to a new reply.

    Best of luck,

    PeregrineX

    New Diagnostics Tool output zip file

    Thank you PeregrineX

    I tried again and this time I was able to run SF Diag tool to completion. Not sure what happened the first time.

    Here is the zip file.

    I very recently did a software upgrade but will do as you recommend anyway to doublecheck.
    Please let me know if you have any further insights if you are able to review this additional file.

    Thank you!

    Alright, your driver is outdated and is causing the problem:

    Code:
    DAMDrv DAMDrv Kernel 2/6/2013 8:28:24 AM
    I have found the latest version of that driver on the HP Website. Download and install it here.

    Wow, thank you again!

    I did some research, and this install file is listed for Windows 8.1 (64bit)
    at this website...this file is different from the HP Client Security Manager update file sp64399.exe that I find when logging into the HP site , entering my system SN , and entering Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

    Is it possible the file you recommended is not appropriate for Win 7 but is ok for Win 8.1?
    I have Win 7 Pro 64.

    Thanks!

    When I went to the HP website, I clicked on "Windows 7 Pro x64" for the operating system, so it should be safe to install my download link.
