Okay so I removed all my gpu drivers and removed the gpu itself, now running on the intergrated graphics chip. Windows updates is running(I changed the settings to what you advised), installing all the important updates. Will let you guys know if it BSODs at any point.

So should I click ''Apply Fix'' ? I don't know what device the driver it wants to install is for.

Yes, enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) and the separate Windows Updates settings Gary showed above, then Check for Updates and choose all Important and Optional Updates, install with reboots, check back until there are no more offered. These will be patches as well as drivers and are all needed except Bing.

Steve had earlier told you to only install the Windows Drivers. This is how you do it. Had you done that you likely wouldn't have had the driver warning from Windows because you'd have all the drivers already.

This is what comes up after I enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3). I assume this is because I did not install LAN/USB drivers for the mobo with this vanilla re install as they were not essential

Please continue with the steps given. Check for Updates, install all Important and Optional with required reboots, check for updates again until no more are left.

Steve has already said earlier in the thread for you to install only Windows Updates drivers and this is what these are.

If any drivers are then missing in Device Manager, we will help you import them from the Support Downloads webpage for the Device or mobo.

    Thank you Broken Hyoid,

I posted that information for reference - I'm glad you simply confirmed the version.

The two asterisks are something to investigate, but not take action on until all information is known.
This is a really difficult issue - everything passes the tests.

I like the approach you're taking troubleshooting the issue - very smart.
I haven't clicked ''Apply this fix'' as I didn't want to install any additional drivers than those I was told to. I don't even know what the ''unknown device'' is.

This should help identify the device, but still do not "Apply this fix". You and essenbe are the leads on this thread, I'm jumping in and out. Anything I post is for consideration only, not an actionable item.

Well, except for identifying the device :)

The LAN driver is essential to connect to the internet.

Okay so I have installed all windows updates, and also installed the LAN and USB drivers for the mobo, there are no more ''unknown device'' driver error from windows troubleshooting. Am going to run the youtube video on loop now, if it BSODs I will let you all know, otherwise if there is no BSOD in 48hrs that will pretty much confirm the GPU as the cause.

I'll try and clarify things a bit regarding the licensing situation....

One of the things about an OEM System Builder license is that you agree to supplementary licensing terms BEFORE opening the packet to install or read the Key - the act of opening the packet indicates acceptance of the terms.
Obviously, with the Key coming by email it's not possible for you to agree or disagree to those terms - which automatically makes the license invalid, whatever any technical/activation/validation results may be.
There is also the distinct possibility that the Key and the package are counterfeits - high quality ones, maybe, but counterfeits - and/or that the Key has been duplicated and sold many times, which will result in major problems down the line.

As Essenbe says, your best option is to RMA the product and inform Amazon.

Okay so I was using my pc for just normal internet browsing(not much else I can do with no gpu) and all of a sudden the pc freezes, and by PC I mean just the video, audio was still working as I could still hear a youtube video, but my mouse was frozen and I couldnt type anything. After 5 seconds just as I was about to hit the reset button in the PC, the screen flashes black and un-freezes, at the bottom left a bubble pops up saying:

    Code:
''AMD display driver stopped responding and has recovered''
This is very similar to what happened before(as described in post #61 of this thread), except this time I am using on board graphics and the display driver recovered. Last time the display driver did not recover and the screen stayed black and I had to reboot the PC, I was using my dedicated GPU back then. This crash had also created a dump file in the ''Live Kernel Reports'' folder. After essenbe looked at the dump file posted this code:
    Code:
    VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (117)
The display driver failed to respond in timely fashion.
(This code can never be used for a real bugcheck.)
    Arguments:
Arg1: fffffa800a268010, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff88002c19dac, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g owner tag).
Arg3: 0000000000000000, The secondary driver specific bucketing key.
Arg4: 0000000000000000, Optional internal context dependent data.
I would like to reiterate that no BSOD occured, or dump files formed, so far with on board graphics NO BSODs have occured. Just found it weird that the driver had stopped responding and was very similar to when I was using the dedicated GPU, do not know if it is relevant.

Will keep you guys posted if an actual BSOD happens.

EDIT: okay so I forgot to mention that my motherboard chipset drivers are not installed as they were not necessary during the vanilla re install. Perhaps this was the cause of this and is irrelevant.
