BSOD while playing games 0x124

Hello, my laptop HP Pavilion DV6 3032sa is getting BSOD only when I'm playing games like "Minecraft" and "GMod". Before my laptop used to get very hot. Around 70 when idling and around 95-105 when playing games. I had cooling pad which did not help at all. Now I am forced to use a huge fan to blow air at the laptop and the temp stays at around 50-60 when idling and 85 when gaming. When PC crashes it does not show any info just shows black screen and sound glitches. Sometimes even BSOD file is not created.

Just had another BSOD exactly the same like the img above. CPU temp was at stable 85C while gaming

Did everything except 7 and 9 before making a post here. Don't have win CD here and can't remove any parts because it's laptop. Did the stress test for ram they came up as 100% clean no errors. Have tune up utility which fixes all bad or unreadable sectors on HDD.

The first thing you should do is to dismantle the laptop. Clean the inside very carefully. Clean the air vents and grills.

And the most important thing that you have to do is to apply new thermal paste.

If you cannot do it yourself, get it done by anybody who can. Take the help of paid professionals if needed. But do it as soon as possible. If possible do it ATM.

so the problem is overheating right? Offtopic question Can i somehow change the processor in my laptop? or is it not worth it if it's possible at all?

Your laptop is more or less three years old right?

The processor for your laptop may not be available in the market, cause of the very fast development of the processors over the last few years. If you cannot get a processor with the matching pin type of the existing one, you may need to change the motherboard too; and may be the RAM too. The expenses will go almost near to a new laptop.

But if you get one of the same make/model/pins of the existing CPU, you may think of changing the CPU.

Still re-applying the thermal paste will be far easier and justifiable idea than changing the processor, provided the processor itself is not failing. You said you stressed it. What was the result? Did the stress test fail?

As you said you have done most of all the troubleshooting steps, and as you are silent about the results I assumed that the tests were passed; the most important thing remains that is overheating. So you need to narrow down the possibility at first.

Yes the laptop is 2.5 years old now, I'd like to change the cpu to better one because I just got tired of 70-100C+ temp even with new thermal paste. I did some amazon research and found many cpu that are for Socket S1 (638)
RAM passed the test with 0 errors, didn't do any other test.
It's weird for my laptop to overheat at 85C and show BSOD because when I bought it, it was running at 80 when idle and over 100 when gaming and then I didn't get any BSOD even at that extreme temperatures.

Ah ... its ok then. Do what you plan to do.

It appears that you are bit of reluctant in troubleshooting. Best of luck with the CPU change; but stop 0x124 needs dense troubleshooting to narrow down the issue exactly.
