    bsod ON ga-970a-ud3 AM3+

BSOD After computer is on for approximately an hour, but when restarted it only lasts about 5 minutes. It doesn't matter what I am doing even if it is nothing!! I tried to disable GDRV but that didn't help. I stopped Easy Tune from running. I am at a loss as what to do!!!

    Hi pgamer.

The BSODs are caused by a Gigabyte bloatware.
    Code:
    BugCheck 3B, {c0000005, fffff8800832e32d, fffff88008bf8e40, 0}

    Probably caused by : gdrv.sys ( gdrv+332d )

    Followup: MachineOwner
    ---------
    Which is fairly old.
    Code:
        Image name: gdrv.sys
        Timestamp: Fri Mar 13 08:52:29 2009 (49B9D175)
I would not suggest you to update it; but to get rid of it. Uninstall these bundled utilities from the motherboard CD:

    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte
    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte\3TB+Unlock
    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte\DMIView
    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte\ET6
    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte\G.O.M
    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte\SmartRecovery2
    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte\TouchBIOS
    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte\UpdManager
    • Start Menu\Programs\Gigabyte\USB Blocker

But that uninstallation only would not be the ideal situation. I'd recommend you to Clean Up Factory Bloatware, with a special reference to Point #13
    13. Consider a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is often better than getting a new computer considering how pre-installed bloatware can corrupt Windows 7 even if it's completely cleaned up.
Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

    • Double click to open it.
    • Click this button only:
    • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

You decide between the mass uninstall and the clean reinstall (I would say that the later will be better). Whatever you do, let us know the situation when done.

Thanks...I think it worked!!! And on a side note...I see that your Avatar is Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. Does that also mean that you like the old RPG's as well? I am a big fan
