    WinDBG 8.1 file type association problem.


    Hey all:)

    So I just got a new Win8.1 laptop, and after installing WinDBG and updating my how to thread, I ran into a small problem.

    When I try to associate dump files with WinDBG I get the following error;

    Note: the .dmp file is just a random one I grabbed from the top thread to test if everything worked.

    I tried to associate the file type via the "path to winDBG" -AI way, and when that failed I went via the control panel. I tried virtually every option, but I just can't get it to work

    It looks like I somehow messed up and it sees "%1" as the program that needs to open the .dmp files instead of WinDBG, or something like that. And, when I look at the file type association, I see that whilst I have a 64bit laptop, WinDBG installed itself in the 32Bit Prog Files folder.. Could that be the issue?

    Oh well, I can't seem to find the cause or solve it, so if someone has a clue, by all means share it
