    Blue Screen Of Death

I have a Gateway MT6707 laptop and Windows 7 has been running great, I just got my full copy of Win7 the other day but I have not installed it. I have been running Win7 Eval Copy Build 7100 for a couple of months now. A few weeks ago I started getting some blue screens and I just ignored it. Here it is I am about to install the copy I just purchased and I want to get to the bottom of this. Below is from the message I get after it reboots and I was just wondering if anyone had an idea from what is shown here what it could be, hardware/software. Thanks.

    Code:

      OS Version: 6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1

    Hi and welcome to sevenforums

Could you go to C:|windows\minidump, zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it for us to debug.

    thanks

I'd suggest checking your hard disks for issues. (parameter 2 of the error message is c0000185 which indicates an issue with the disk sub-system).

First, run CHKDSK /R from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors.

Next, run a hard drive diagnostic using the instructions from here: HD Diagnostic

Post back with the results and we'll move on from there.

    Here's the BSOD analysis:

    KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
    KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
    Arguments:
Arg1: c0568328, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: c0000185, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: 755e0820, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: ad065a0e, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)
