See if you have any new dump files and let's take a look at them. A clean install never hurts and really isn't as bad as most people think if you plan for it. But, we'll see if we can fix it first, but you'd be surprised how much junk gets in the system after a couple of years.

i think that's what I will do. a LOT of stuff does get on there and I think its time for a fresh start.

    I usually follow this

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

because I have a windows 7 ult. upgrade disk. it has worked everytime

I just am going to delete the entire partition and reformat once I get home.

also I think I am going to delete everything off my WD raptor gaming drive and reinstall all the games fresh.

is there anything you suggest that will wipe a HD clean that does not have an OS on it? or just highlight and delete everything?

First, before you do the clean install disconnect every hard drive before starting the install, it will keep the installer from putting files on other drives. The first window, where it says select your language, don't do it. Hold down shift and press F10 which will bring up a command window, type diskpart and press enter, once the computer responds with diskpart, type select disk and press enter. You should only have 1 disk. Diskpart will number each disk. Yours should be disk 0. type select disk 0 and select enter. once the computer replies type clean and press enter, when it responds type create partition primary and press enter. once that is complete type active and press enter. once the computer responds, type exit and press enter, then type exit and press enter again, you will be back at the select your language screen, continue as normal, highlight the drive and press install. Just be sure to only have the 1 hard drive connected. All you have to do is disconnect 1 of the 2 wires from each hard drive you are not installing Windows to. Also, make the windows drive connected to the motherboard port o or 1.

Do the clean install first and run all windows updates, just be sure you have your chipset driver, your Lan driver and your USB 3.0 driver, if you have it. Do that and once you get windows completely installed, shut down the computer and connect the other drives and we'll clean whatever you want to.

i'm doing clean install as i type this from my laptop.

once i'm done and install all the windows updates and drivers etc..

how do i go about wiping the gaming hard drive?

i have a Corsair 800D and the poped out the other HDD in the hot swap bays.

the only HDD i have in is my WD 2TB black drive that windows is going onto.

but once i'm up and running. do i put the gaming HDD back into the hot swap bay and than do what? i want it completely empty as if i just got it from the store. this is the HDD my games are going to be installed on.

Open an elevated command prompt and go through the same procedure I told you above, except instead of typing the command clean, type clean all. Then go out for dinner. It will take several hours to complete. When it does, it will be absolutely clean. Nothing will survive. Once it's through type create partition Primary (enter) Select partition 1 (enter)
format fs=ntfs quick (enter) assign (enter) exit It will be done then ready to install on.

If you have Steam, you can copy/paste the steamapps folder somewhere else. Install Steam, delete the Steamapps folder and copy/paste the steamapps folder back and not have to re-download the games. Or you can remove the games you don't want and then move the folder back, and you won't have to re download them. The same pretty much with Origin, just a little different.

No, but you should be able to tell which one by the size of the hard drive, plus, you should have your OS drive as drive 0, because it is plugged into drive 0 port. But, it won't do that to the OS drive.
